Kearush the Slayer Boss Guide: Banquet Brawl Strategy and Fire Weakness
Kearush the Slayer crashes the Demenissian Delegation banquet at Hernand Castle — Crimson Desert's first three-phase wall. Fire, Back Hang, and phase strategy.
Kearush the Slayer is a giant brawler who crashes a royal banquet at Hernand Castle during the Demenissian Delegation questline — and the game’s first true wall: three health bars, relentless combo chains, and grab attacks that end unprepared runs. He is also the same Kearush who later turns up as your ally in the White Horn fight — beat him here and he owes you one.
Before the fight
- Unlock Back Hang — the final tier of the Grappling branch and the single most effective skill in this fight (see below).
- Bring fire. Kearush has a fire weakness — igniting him makes him roll around, opening a long damage window. Fire spears drop from enemies in a nearby quarry, but supply is limited (they don’t respawn indefinitely), so even one or two change the fight.
- Refine gear at the blacksmith — weapons around +4/+5 and a raised Health stat keep his combos from one-shotting you.
- Stock cooked meals — soups from the cooking pot are the reliable heal here; see the cooking and crafting guide.
The golden rule: don’t parry
Kearush is a brawler, and the fight is deliberately tuned against the defensive habits Staglord taught you. Blocking holds for a hit or two, then his combo chains shred your stamina bar and smack you into the arena’s stone walls for bonus damage. Dodge instead — and dodge sideways, not backward: watch his fists and slip past the swing rather than away from it.
Phase 1 — the pattern fight
Blue health bar. His strings are readable: three-to-four-move ground smashes and charge attacks, each ending in a still moment.
- After every Overhead Slam he is vulnerable for a few seconds — your safest window. Land 2–3 hits and disengage; greed is how this fight kills you.
- When he backs up posturing, follow and take a few free strikes.
Phase 2 — the wall game
Green health bar, and he gets nastier:
- Wall-leap crash — he leaps to a wall, hangs a beat, then crashes down on you. Roll once when he leaves the wall, then punish the landing — a great damage window.
- Charge — a full-sprint rush across the arena. Dodge at the last second and he crashes into the wall, staggering himself — baiting charges into walls is the longest opening in the fight.
- Ground Eruption — rocks erupt in a line toward you. Roll perpendicular to the line.
Phase 3 — the desperation slam
Final bar: faster, harder, same patterns but chained with fewer safe windows.
- At roughly 10% HP he winds up a desperation attack — a massive slam covering most of the arena. When he roars and glows red, sprint to the far edge immediately.
