Saigord the Staglord Boss Guide: Location, Strategy, and Drops
Saigord the Staglord is an optional three-phase duel at Icemoor Castle Ruins in Hernand. How to beat the fallen king and earn his shield and Turning Slash.
Saigord, the Staglord is a fallen king clinging to a forsaken throne in the frozen Icemoor Castle Ruins of Hernand’s Savage Peaks — an optional sword-and-shield duel widely regarded as one of Crimson Desert’s most demanding early encounters. Skippable, but skipping means missing one of the game’s best sword skills.
How do you reach him?
- The Staglord never appears on the main story path. Pick up the “Lord Amidst the Ruins” faction quest for House Serkis.
- The fight triggers during the second quest in that chain, “King of the Fallen Kingdom”, at the Icemoor Castle Ruins in central Hernand.
- Come prepared: the castle sits in a cold zone where the environment actively drains your stamina — arriving underprepared makes the fight noticeably harder. Recommended level is around 22.
How do you beat him?
Three health bars of sword-and-shield combat, with the rules that matter most:
- His red-glint attacks punish blocking — do not hide behind your shield; dodge or parry them instead.
- Force Palm staggers him — the single most reliable interrupt in this fight, and worth slotting before you travel.
- The stamina drain outside your control means every wasted dodge costs double — fight deliberately, not frantically.
- Treat the three bars as escalating lessons: his patterns stay readable, but the windows get tighter each phase.
Rewards
| Reward | Type |

| Staglord’s Shield | Unique shield — his own |
| Turning Slash Expertise | Sword skill upgrade — among the game’s best sword skills |
Defeating him also liberates the Icemoor Castle Ruins. For the faction-quest system and more encounters, see the bosses overview; for Force Palm and the parry line, the skill tree guide; for shield mechanics, the weapon types guide.
