Myurdin Boss Guide: The Prologue Fight and the Chapter 7 Rematch

Myurdin leads the Black Bears, the rival mercenary band that destroys the Greymanes — and Crimson Desert books its revenge arc with him twice. First as a scripted prologue fight you are meant to lose, then as the real two-phase rematch at the top of Ashclaw Keep in Chapter 7.

The prologue fight: a loss by design

In the opening “Ambush” quest at the Hills of No Return, Kliff ends up fighting Myurdin and his Black Bears alone. This fight is scripted:

  • You can clear the surrounding soldiers and even drive Myurdin’s health down — but the outcome never changes. At low health a cutscene fires: Kliff takes an arrow and is thrown off a cliff, leading into the Abyss “Unknown Space” mission.
  • Winning grants no extra rewards and does not alter the story. Don’t burn consumables here — save them for the rematch.

The rematch: Ashclaw Keep, Chapter 7

The real fight comes during “Battle at Silver Wolf Mountain” at the summit of Ashclaw Keep in northern Pailune — the same Chapter 7 sequence where Oongka becomes playable. Myurdin has two phases and transforms into the empowered Lava Myurdin for the second.

Phase one:

  • Myurdin scurries on all fours like an animal and pounces into an overhead slam — the erratic movement makes him hard to pin down. Don’t chase; let him come to you.
  • His unblockable overhead is telegraphed by a flash — when you see it, sidestep and punish the recovery. If you can’t parry it, never try to block through it.
  • He raises both hands before slamming — learn the windup and the fight slows down.

Phase two — Lava Myurdin:

  • The empowered form hits harder and adds fire to the moveset. Play it like phase one but greedier on defense: dodge over parry when in doubt, the same pattern-reading discipline that carries the Kearush fight.
  • This is where your saved consumables pay off — see prep below.

What to bring

Ashclaw Keep’s summit is far from any resupply — stock up before you climb:

  • Healing food — Meat Skewers and Braised Meat are cheap, stackable, and reliable. See the cooking guide.
  • Palmar Pills — instant revival at 30% health. Hoard them for phase two; using one while he still has most of his health is a waste.
  • Tauria Curved Sword — if you’ve beaten the Crowcaller in Chapter 5, its Crow’s Pursuit projectile lets you deal damage from a safe distance while Myurdin scurries.

Rewards

Defeating Lava Myurdin completes the quest and grants Melted Ambition plus 3,000 Pailunese Contribution EXP — a hefty chunk of faction progress toward Pailune questlines like the one that unlocks White Horn.
