Queen Stoneback Crab Boss Guide: Climb, Break, and Stab
Queen Stoneback Crab is a climbing boss in Delesyia's Stoneback Crab Wetlands. How to board her shell, break the ore formations, and reach the cursed jar.
Queen Stoneback Crab is one of Crimson Desert’s showpiece encounters — a colossal, gem-crusted crustacean that Pearl Abyss describes as “a monster adorned with the rarest gems of Pywel,” and one of the four bosses playable in the game’s Gamescom 2024 demo. She is not a slugging match: this is a Shadow of the Colossus-style climbing fight where the boss herself is the terrain.
How do you unlock the fight?
- She lives at the Stoneback Crab Wetlands in the Redfox Forest area of Delesyia.
- The encounter is gated behind the Red Fox Merchants faction questline — progress it until you reach “The Queen’s Lake”, starting from the Redfox Trading Post.
- She is an ambush predator: the quest lures you with the promise of valuable minerals before she strikes.
How the fight works
Direct damage on her armored shell barely registers — the fight is about getting on her, not around her:
- Board her. Jump onto her back and climb the carapace — invest in stamina first, because running out of grip mid-climb means a devastating fall straight into her follow-up slam. The rear-left leg offers the most stable climbing route.
- Break the ore formations. Quartz and rocky growths cover her shell — Force Palm cracks them open, exposing the green-glowing weak points underneath.
- Stab the weak points. Three vulnerable points glow green on the carapace — strike each while clinging on. Each broken point triggers a brief frenzy, so time your repositioning right after the hit rather than pushing for a second.
- The jar is the kill switch. A cursed jar sits atop her head — after her blue health bar is cleared, expose and smash it to end the encounter.
Her attacks, and their answers
| Attack | Answer |
|---|---|
| Ground Slam — large forward AOE | Roll sideways, not backward — the radius is forward-biased |
| Boulder Barrage | Stay close and circle behind her |
| Bucking while you climb | The rear-left route has the least lateral displacement |
Rewards
| Reward | Type |
|---|---|
| Diamond ×2 | Gem / crafting material |
| Garnet ×3 | Gem / crafting material |
| Azurite ×5 | Gem / crafting material |
Fitting spoils for a boss literally crusted in gems. For the Force Palm and stamina upgrades this fight assumes, see the skill tree guide; for more encounters, the bosses overview; for how gem drops feed crafting, the items guide.
