Crimson Desert Weapon Types: Every Character's Arsenal Explained

Crimson Desert doesn’t give you a class — it gives you three playable characters, each with their own weapon roster and combat identity. Kliff is the versatile all-rounder with the widest arsenal; Damiane is a rapier-and-pistol glass cannon; Oongka is a two-handed axe bruiser with an arm-mounted cannon. Weapon choice follows character choice.

Kliff’s arsenal

Kliff has the broadest weapon access in the game — and can switch weapons mid-combo without interrupting the attack chain:

Weapon family Role
Sword & shield The balanced option — shield blocks are reliable and the forgiving choice while learning parry timing
Greatsword / two-handed swords Power and guard-breaking — slow, devastating, knocks down most non-boss enemies
Spears Reach and crowd control — the longest melee option, ideal for dismounting cavalry
Axes & maces Stagger and anti-armor — built for breaking enemy posture
Bow Ranged pressure — essential against airborne enemies and for destroying boss mechanics at distance
Firearms Ranged options beyond the bow for opening engagements
Barehanded & grappling A full unarmed moveset — throws, takedowns, and the grapple system that dismounts riders

The Armed Combat line of the skill tree upgrades the kit further — higher ranks let you attack during a weapon switch rather than around it.

Damiane — rapier and pistol

Unlocked in Chapter 3, Damiane is the speed archetype: a fallen noble of House Spencer fighting as a swashbuckler — rapid rapier flurries, tight quick-step dodges, and pistol fire for kiting and marking targets. She is also the only character who casts elemental spells directly from her hands — fire, ice, lightning, and wind — giving her ranged elemental options nobody else has.

Oongka — two-handed axe and cannon

Unlocked in Chapter 7, Oongka is one of Kliff’s founding Greymanes — the tank-bruiser. His two-handed axe delivers devastating area-of-effect swings, and the arm-mounted cannon gives him ranged punch no other melee character matches.

Boss gear as loot

Bosses drop the equipment they use — the Staglord gives up his shield, Reed Devil leaves his Sunset Reed Cloth Gloves, and skill drops like Turning Slash Expertise and Swift Stab expand the moveset itself. If a boss wields or wears something interesting, the fight usually hands it over — see the bosses overview and the items guide for the full drop economy, and the combat system guide for how switching works mid-fight.
