Crimson Desert Greymane Camp Guide: Recruits, Dispatch Missions, and Pets
Greymane Camp is Crimson Desert's Chapter 3 hub — reunite scattered Greymanes through rumor quests, run real-time dispatch missions, and tame pets.
Greymane Camp at Howling Hill is Crimson Desert’s home-base system — the place where the shattered mercenary band reassembles. It unlocks in Chapter 3 during the “Homestead” questline, the same sequence that introduces Damiane: Marquis Serkis grants the Greymanes a fief, and you’re walked through raising it — securing a tent, hauling sacks, planting the banner, and cooking two bowls of Modest Clear Soup at the camp pot.
Recruiting comrades: the rumor system
You don’t hire strangers — only scattered Greymane survivors can join, and every recruitment flows through the Greymane faction questline (see the faction quests guide):
- Marius — the old comrade who joins at founding — gathers rumors about where surviving Greymanes ended up.
- Each rumor becomes a “Grounds of the Sunrise” quest: track the lead, find the veteran, bring them home. Early example: the sawmill south of Coalvale Workshop, where Luke and Ronald traded swords for lumber axes.
- Recruited comrades join your workforce immediately — for dispatch missions and camp operations.
The camp expands again near the end of Chapter 3, unlocking more features and questlines.
Dispatch missions: your passive engine
Once recruited, comrades can be dispatched to locations you’ve discovered:
- Missions run on in-game time — send them out, keep playing, collect when they finish.
- Rewards land in camp stock: materials, currency, and mission-dependent items you keep.
- More comrades = more parallel missions = more passive income. Recruitment is one of the highest-value early priorities.
Carl, the provisions officer, runs two key functions: the Supply Chest (loot from missions plus camp-produced supplies usable in cooking and crafting) and Camp Provisions — donate resources directly to fund dispatch missions.
Pets: taming the locals
Stray dogs, cats, and birds across Pywel can become permanent companions through the trust system:
- Every animal has a hidden 0–100 trust counter. Petting raises it a few times per day; feeding raises it more — each breed has a favorite food worth the biggest gain. Reaching 100 unlocks “Take In.”
- You can register up to 30 pets, but only one can be actively summoned — it follows you, auto-loots enemy corpses, and cats ride your shoulder when you idle.
- Birds use a different flow: deploy the Sotdae of Bond feeder (a reward from the “Authorized Access” side quest at Pororin Village) and wait for the bird to land.
- Adopted pets live at camp, can wear gear from the Pet Shop, and count as residents alongside your comrades.
